Biography

  • Hometown: Sandy, Oregon
  • Year graduated: 2019
  • Major: Medical Office Administration
  • Favorite food: Pad Thai and clam chowder
  • Favorite place on campus: The big tree at the Campanile, popularly called the Fairy Tree. If you look closely, you can see ferns nestled in the trunk. It reminds me of the comparison in Psalm 1:3.
  • Favorite Bible verse: Romans 14:13 “Let us not therefore judge one another any more: but judge this rather, that no man put a stumblingblock or an occasion to fall in his brother’s way.” No two believers think alike, and everyone’s conscience is different. I think it’s important to respect another believer’s conscience, even if you live very differently. Regardless, we are meant to encourage each other toward godliness.
  • Hobbies/interests: Costuming, historical fashion
  • Sports I like to play: You’ll find me a safe distance away from anything that involves a ball or running. I’m a disaster waiting to happen!
  • What attracted me to PCC: The high quality of the nursing program. Sadly, I am afraid of needles, but I LOVED my new major once I switched to Medical Office Administration.
  • Advice for future students: Trust the Lord one step at a time, even if it feels like you’re switching gears and it doesn’t make sense. Later, you may find that trusting Him in that one step helped get you ready for the next step.
  • One person I would like to meet and why: Edith Head. She was one of the greatest costume designers during the Golden Age of Hollywood. (For reference, she designed the costumes in Ten Commandments and White Christmas.)
  • Favorite class in college: Advanced Medical Transcription. It’s a lot easier to hear and understand than reading doctors’ scrawl! I really enjoyed Business Communication as well.
  • Best PCC memory: Rock climbing in the Sports Center with my husband. He would belay me and sometimes wouldn’t let me down. It’s funny now.
  • How I spend my free time: I love to read! But you’ll probably find me cleaning and listening to an audiobook.
  • Most unique places I’ve traveled: Enchanted Forest in Turner, Oregon. It’s very whimsical and fun for any age.
  • People would be surprised to know that I . . . Used to design costumes and ran a clothing business.
  • Favorite PCC tradition: Christmas Lights
  • Favorite quotation: “Not all of us can do great things, but we can do small things with great love” —Mother Teresa
  • Ideal/favorite vacation spot: Disneyland! I spent several years in southern California, and Disneyland will always hold a special place in my heart.
  • Things I can’t live without: My husband and daughter. On a material level, air conditioning and caffeine.
  • Fun fact: I grew up in a performing arts family and spent most of my childhood and teenage years backstage. I also got to meet Fred Rogers from Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood. He was such a sweet, kind man, and that will always be one of my most cherished memories.
