“The accounting program at PCC is a threshold for graduates to answer God’s calling to traditional accounting opportunities such as accounting services, taxation, and advisory services or many other vocations in finance, education, healthcare, Christian ministry, and government. Graduates have attained licensure and have excelled in their diverse callings as CPAs, CFOs, equity funds managers, investment analysts, and law enforcement. Excitedly, their lives validate the Psalmist’s desire ‘that men would praise the Lord for his goodness, and for his wonderful works’ (Psalm 107:8).

Our curriculum provides a comprehensive knowledge base and skill set that empowers graduates to advance in their careers rapidly and to adapt to changes in their work environment. For example, the rise of AI was initially viewed as a death knell to accounting’s conventional role of ‘bookkeeping.’ Although AI is replacing human interaction in capturing and cradling financial information, accountants still play a role in communicating corporate results for strategic planning. Our accounting students are encouraged to view AI as a source of ‘Assistant’s Information’ to be investigated and understood as they step into their new role of being strategic advisors. Organizations expect their hires to demonstrate honesty and diligence when performing their tasks, and our graduates have met those expectations. PCC accounting graduates are often reminded their actions reflect their Lord and need to be above reproach (1 Corinthians 10:31).”

“When I started my accounting degree, I was completely unaware of the career paths for an accountant or steps to take to put myself on the path to have a successful accounting career. Thankfully, the accounting faculty were very aware of what opportunities were available to me as a future accountant and, more importantly, what I needed to do to take advantage of those opportunities.

I greatly appreciate PCC because I was able to learn under some very smart, competent, and experienced teachers who were invested in my and my classmates’ success. They were able to instill in me a mindset of how I should approach my education and my career so that I could seek out and maximize opportunities that came my way.”

About the Accounting Concentration

The purpose of the accounting concentration is to prepare students for placement and career advancement into positions of influence in commercial, public, not-for-profit, or governmental accounting; to establish a foundation for further education and professional certification or licensure; and to exhibit a Christian testimony in their personal and professional lives.

Recommended high school preparation for an accounting concentration is two units of algebra. Opportunities are available to make up this deficiency. In this case, time required to complete an accounting concentration could be expected to increase.

PCC has partnered with University of West Florida to provide special scholarship opportunities for students applying to UWF’s Master of Accountancy (M.Acc.) program. Out-of-state tuition fees will also be waived for qualifying students completing the degree online. General eligibility requirements include minimum cumulative 3.00 GPA.

Accounting students can apply for scholarships to receive financial aid.

Roger and Eloise Anderson Scholarship
Up to $3,000 scholarship awarded to a continuing sophomore with a business major, mechanical or pre-medicine concentration, or pre-law emphasis who has a financial need, to be applied in the 3rd, 5th, and 7th semesters of consecutive attendance.

Bank of America Scholarship
$500 scholarships each awarded to continuing sophomores, juniors, or seniors with a business major who have a financial need, to be applied over one semester.
